Elderberry Syrup Kit

Make elderberry syrup at home with this easy kit. All you need to do is add water and honey (4-6 ozs.) and a little bit of time. Elderberry is one of the most traditional and effective immune system allies used in herbal medicine. It has a long history of use dating back hundreds of years and on nearly every continent. Delicious and full of antioxidants this is a household remedy that everyone can enjoy!

*Children under 1 year should not ingest honey

Ingredients: Organic dried elderberries, cinnamon and ginger

Kit also includes organic cheesecloth for straining and a label for your bottle (bottle not included). Makes approx. 24 ozs. of syrup.

Directions: Combine this packet (remove sticker & cheesecloth) with 2 cups of cold water in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let steep for 1 hour. Strain using a funnel overlaid with cheesecloth (included) and squeeze out liquid (careful, liquid may still be hot!). Discard solids. Once liquid has cooled to just above room temperature, add 4-6 ozs. of honey and stir to incorporate. Bottle in a sterilized glass jar and store in the refrigerator, use within 1 month.

*Be sure to add honey in a ratio that is at least half of the total volume of liquid after it has simmered. This amount can change slightly and you want to make sure you have enough preservative (honey) so that your syrup won't spoil. (Example: If you are left with 1 cup of elderberry decoction, you will want to add at least 1/2 cup of honey).
