Immunity Chai Blend

Who doesn't love a warming cup of chai on a cold day. This blend is inspired by all the spicy, aromatic herbs of chai with added reishi mushrooms and astragalus root to give your immune system a boost. This blend has no black tea so the overall taste is a toned down version of chai, so don't expect this to replace your coffeeshop ritual.

Astragalus is an ancient adaptogen used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to help increase energy and resistance to stress. It is valued for supporting the immune system as a tonic that builds overtime. Reishi mushrooms support your immune system and defenses to help keep you healthy and feeling your best. Together these herbs can aid those who experience frequent respiratory infections throughout the winter. Add in ginger and all the other warming spices of chai to heat up the body and soothe the soul.

Makes approx. 24 ozs. of tea when finished, cheesecloth included for straining

Ingredients: Astragalus Root, Reishi Mushroom, Ginger, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Peppercorns, Mace, Vanilla & Cloves 

Directions: Combine this packet (remove cheesecloth) with 4 cups of water in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and allow to lightly simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let steep for 1 hour. Strain using a funnel overlaid with cheesecloth (included) and squeeze out liquid (careful, liquid may still be hot!). Discard solids. Return to the stove to reheat.

Several additions can now be added such as honey or maple syrup, we recommend 2-4 Tbsp. for the entire batch. Cocoa powder or cacao powder can be added (1 tsp per 8 ozs). Milk or non-dairy beverages are commonly added (2 Tbsp per 8 ozs.)

You can store unused tea in the refrigerator for up to 3 days but we would recommend doing this before adding any milk or non-dairy beverages to the tea.
