Cherry Bark Cough Syrup Kit

Our Cherry Bark Cough Syrup Kit is a natural, soothing alternative to over-the-counter medication. Make at home with local, raw honey & tart cherry concentrate to calm throat irritation and ease coughs. Cheesecloth & label for bottle included. 

Wild Cherry Bark: an expectorant used to calm cough reflex. It relaxes the lungs when experiencing over excitability, hacking or restless breathing.

Mullein: an expectorant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-spasmodic useful for bronchitis and dry coughing, and as a general tonifying herb for the respiratory system. 

Marshmallow Root: eases sore, dry throats by coating and cooling the irritated tissues with its slippery gel.

Elecampane: stimulating expectorant, helpful for expelling mucus mucus deep in the lungs. A traditional remedy for bronchitis, pneumonia and asthma.

Ginger: anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which help reduce airway inflammation, relax airway muscles, and break down mucus.

Make at home with local, raw honey & tart cherry concentrate (not included). Cheesecloth & label for bottle included. 

Ingredients: Wild cherry bark, mullein leaf, marshmallow root, elecampane & ginger

Directions: Combine this packet (remove sticker & cheesecloth) with 4 cups of cold water in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and strain using a funnel overlaid with cheesecloth (included). Discard solids. Once liquid has cooled to just above room temperature, add 16 ozs. of honey and ½ cup of tart cherry concentrate. Stir to incorporate. Bottle in a sterilized glass jar and store in the refrigerator, use within 2 months.

*This makes a lot of cough syrup, so it is best to share or simply cut the recipe in half by discarding half of the decoction before adding half the amounts of honey & tart cherry concentrate.

*Adult Dosage (150 lbs.) 1 tsp. every hour as needed for up to 10 days

*You can increase the shelf life of your syrup by adding up to 25% by volume of vodka or brandy.
